§ Lieut.-Colonel Profumoasked the Minister of Food whether in view of the reduction of the value of points in respect 1677W of tinned foods and the difficulties in providing packed meals for workers absent from home all day, he will consider granting the same additional ration of cheese to ironstone and quarry workers as has been arranged for agricultural employees.
§ Colonel LlewellinThe special cheese ration is only granted to workers in an industry if the conditions of employment are such as to make the provision of a canteen or a packed meal service impracticable. This is not the case with the ironstone quarry industry as a whole, where packed meal facilities are already available to the majority of workers.
