HC Deb 12 June 1945 vol 411 c1496W
Mr. D. J. Williams

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has any proposals for the establishment of new industries in the anthracite area of the South Wales coalfield to provide suitable employment for men who have been suspended from the mining industry because they are suffering from silicosis or pneumoconiosis but are certified to be fit for other employment; and whether he is aware that, in the present circumstances, it is impossible for most of them to find such employment.

Mr. Lyttelton

I am aware of these needs, and proposals for the establishment of such industries are already going forward. I would draw the hon. Member's attention, for example, to the standard factories at Ammanford and Ystradgynlais.
