§ Sir W. Wakefieldasked the Minister of Production what allocations are being made in respect of the supply of textiles for the newly liberated countries and, in particular, those in Western Europe.
§ Mr. LytteltonTextile allocations to liberated countries are made in accordance with recommendations of the Combined Production and Resources Board, and are based on advice from member and other countries as to their capacity to supply. Allocations from all sources to liberated Europe include 192,000,000 yards of cotton textiles and 47,000,000 yards of wool textiles, or their equivalent in made-up goods, as well as substantial quantities of knitgoods, knitting yarn, sewing thread and rayon fabrics. These figures are additional to the substantial amounts allocated to the military authorities in respect of their period of 1489W responsibility. As regards the last part of my hon. Friend's Question, it is not the policy of the Governments concerned to publish details of Combined Board allocations.
