HC Deb 12 June 1945 vol 411 c1483W
Sir W. Davison

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that a considerable number of voters have been disfranchised by reason of admitted mistakes on the part of the registration authorities; and whether the electoral registration officer will be given authority to rectify such mistakes on receiving satisfactory evidence that the individual affected is properly entitled to a vote.

Sir D. Somervell

I am aware that there may be some cases where a person is not registered as an elector in respect of the address entered on his identity card on 31st January, but my hon. Friend's proposal could not be implemented without legislation.
