§ Mr. Martinasked the Minister of Food whether he will, at an early date, arrange for an alternative loaf to be permitted for sale without the extraneous ingredients included in the present loaf.
§ Colonel LlewellinCalcium is the only extraneous ingredient included generally in the national loaf to-day which was not present in the pre-war loaf. As I am 1477W advised that substantial advantages have been obtained from this addition I am not prepared to make available an alternative national loaf without it. Speciality breads containing no added calcium are, however, available from most bakers.
