Viscountess Astorasked the Minister of Labour why unlicensed hotels and restaurants are to be regulated by two separate Wages Boards, whilst licensed hotels and restaurants have the privilege of being regulated by a single Wages Board.
§ Mr. BevinThe Catering Wages Commission made their recommendations in 981W regard to these Boards after the most careful consideration of the circumstances and in consultation with representatives of the sections of the industry covered. The reasons which led the Commission to recommend a separate Wages Board for Unlicensed Non-Residential Catering Establishments are dealt with fully in their Report, Command 6569, to which I would refer the Noble Lady.
