§ Mr. Molsonasked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether there is a resident British Trade Commissioner in Ceylon, in view of the fact that the United States retains a number of trade officials in that Colony to forward its trading interests.
§ Mr. JohnstoneThere is no United Kingdom Trade Commissioner resident in Ceylon, which at present falls within the province of the Senior Trade Commissioner in India. I have instructed the officer who has newly been appointed to this post, and is on his way to India, to report to me whether the appointment of a resident Trade Commissioner would contribute to the efficiency of the Service.
