§ Commander Locker-Lampsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been drawn to the case of Mrs. E. Davies, who was imprisoned for harbouring her husband; and whether this sentence will be reviewed with a view to its mitigation, in the light of the fact that she is the mother of a baby under one year of age, from which she has been separated.
§ Mr. H. MorrisonThe consideration referred to by the hon. and gallant Member would not by itself justify me in recommending any interference. I have, however, been in communication with the Magistrate and, in view of all the relevant circumstances, I have come to the conclusion that this is a case in which I should be justified in recommending the remission of the unexpired portion of the sentence, and Mrs. Davies has accordingly been discharged from custody.
