§ Mr. Kirbyasked the Minister of Information whether he will press the B.B.C. to provide in their post-war re- 180W organisation programme an extension of their former television service so as to include transmissions to the North of England, Scotland and Wales, thus giving an additional amenity to residents in the North, increasing the production of television sets and creating a more equitable distribution of retail trade which in the past has been largely confined to retailers in the London area.
§ Mr. BrackenThe future of television in this country has been under consideration of the Committee appointed by my right hon. Friend the Lord President of the Council. When the decisions of the Government on this Report have been made known I am sure that the Governors of the B.B.C. will give favourable consideration to my hon. Friend's suggestion.
