§ Mr. Harveyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the recently concluded agreement with Ethiopia contains any reference to the suppression of slavery and to the co-operation by the British Government with the Ethiopian authorities in measures to secure the carrying out of Ethiopian laws abolishing the status of slavery, in harmony with the declared policy of the Emperor.
§ Mr. EdenNo, Sir. I would, however, refer the hon. Member to the reply returned to him by my right hon. Friend the Minister of State on 13th October, 1943, to the effect that very active steps were being taken by the Ethiopian Government to suppress slavery.
