§ Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will state the results of the recent Jamaica elections, the main policies of the parties, approximately the total number of votes cast for each party and the percentage of the electorate who voted; and whether all offices have now been filled.
§ Mr. Emrys-EvansThe election results are as follow. Jamaica Labour Party 23 members, People's National Party 4 members, Independent 5 members. Four members of the former Legislative Council were returned (one Labour, one People's National Party and two Independent). 55 per cent. of the registered electors recorded their votes. Pending the receipt of the Governor's full report it is not possible to say what were the election programmes, nor the votes cast for each Party, nor whether all offices have been filled.
