asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if, in view of this country's vital interest in the Suez Canal, he has any information to give to the House regarding recent negotiations on the part of Russia with a view to obtaining an interest in the Suez Canal Company.

I have no knowledge whatever of any such negotiations.
