Mr. De la Bèreasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will have some inquiries made regarding the circumstances of Mr. Ernest Turvey, of Hatfield, Norton, near Worcester, who planted 3½ acres of potatoes last spring and has been unable to obtain the appropriate subsidy.
Mr. HudsonThere is no subsidy paid for planting potatoes but an acreage payment, which is, in effect, a part of the price. This is made to growers who observe, amongst other conditions, reasonable rules of husbandry. The circumstances of Mr. Ernest Turvey, of Hatfield, Norton, are being investigated by my Department, but the inquiries are not yet complete.
