Miss Wardasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of the recommendation contained in a letter to the Malayan Government representative in India that the presence of the families in the United Kingdom of men and women who have been in Japanese hands is desirable, money will be available for their passages from whatever country the families are living in to this country.
§ Colonel StanleyYes, Sir, provided that their homes or family connections are in this country, and provided they apply for passages and accept such accommodation as can be made available through official channels. This arrangement is, however, not intended to relieve employers of any liability to meet the cost of the passages, where such liability exists in accordance with the employees' conditions of service.
