HC Deb 20 February 1945 vol 408 cc646-7W
Sir R. Glyn

asked the Secretary of State for Air under what Statutes his Department has acquired and holds airfields and other R.A.F. establishments; and whether these powers are in any instance shared with other Defence Departments.

Sir A. Sinclair

The Statutes under which my Department has acquired and holds R.A.F. airfields and other establishments are the Defence Acts, 1842 to 1873, as applied to the Royal Air Force by Order in Council made under the Air Force (Constitution) Act, 1917, and the Defence (Barracks) Act, 1935. The powets granted by these Acts may also be exercised by the Admiralty and the Secretary of State for War.
