HC Deb 20 February 1945 vol 408 cc640-1W
Sir R. Young

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, as the British section of the Palestine Police Force was proclaimed a military unit in 1941 and are, under the Army Act, subject to military discipline as a military unit, its members are entitled to the gratuities recently announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Colonel Stanley

Members of the British section of the Palestine Police qualify for gratuities provided under the Palestine Police Ordinance and not for military gratuities. I will, if my hon. Friend desires, arrange for particulars to be sent to him. Any men who have previous qualifying service with the Armed Forces would, however, be eligible for military gratuities in respect of that service.
