HC Deb 20 February 1945 vol 408 c645W
Mr. M. MacMillan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether a full survey has now been made of the Outer Hebrides for the purpose of providing a modern and adequate sewerage system in that area.

Mr. Johnston

No survey of sewerage needs is being made by the Department of Health. Local authorities have, however, been invited to submit by 31st October, 1945, applications for grant in respect of sewerage and sewage disposal works under the Rural Water Supplies and Sewerage Act, 1944, and are no doubt making surveys for that purpose so far as war-time conditions permit.
