HC Deb 14 February 1945 vol 408 cc238-9W
Sir G. Jeffreys

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether he is aware that the efficiency of the midwifery service in country districts is affected by the delays and difficulties involved in the necessary repairs and replacements of midwives' cars; and whether he will arrange for a high priority to be granted for repairs, supply of spare parts and, where necessary, for the replacement of such cars if recommended by county nursing associations.

Mr. Noel-Baker

I am grateful to my hon. and gallant Friend for raising this important matter and for the opportunity of explaining that, when any difficulty arises about the repair of midwives' cars, the county nursing association should ask for the help of the Regional Transport Commissioner. The Commissioner will be able to give advice about where repairs can be carried out, and to assist in the supply of any spare parts that may be required.
