HC Deb 14 February 1945 vol 408 c245W
Mr. Mainwaring

asked the Minister of Food whether, before giving effect to his recent pronouncement that people are free to accumulate a stock of food, he will see to it that South Wales is first provided with stocks of foods on points, goods that up to the present have not been available beyond 50 per cent. of the permitted quantities.

Colonel Llewellin

The announcement to which I assume my hon. Friend refers stated that the Acquisition of Food (Excessive Quantities) Order, 1942, had been revoked as the need for it no longer existed. This Order was made at a time when persons were still in a position to buy and accumulate foods in short supply. Such foods are now strictly controlled, and therefore the need for the order no longer exists. As regards the second part of the Question, according to my information South Wales is adequately provided with points foods, but if my hon. Friend knows of the case of any retailer who is unable to obtain his points entitlement I will have the case investigated.
