HC Deb 14 February 1945 vol 408 c248W
Sir G. Jones

asked the Minister of Labour whether or not war service as a special constable by men who later join His Majesty's Forces counts as service under the demobilisation scheme; and whether, as some of these men served for several years under dangerous conditions as special constables, he will allow their police service to count wholly or partially for demobilisation.

Mr. Bevin

Service as a special constable before enlistment in the Armed Forces is not regarded by the Government as service which can be taken into account in determining the relative order of release from the Forces after the defeat of Germany.
