§ Mr. Rileyasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can give the total estimated amount of the schemes which have been approved for British African colonies, including mandated territories under the Colonial Development and Welfare Act of 1940, and the total approximate expenditure on such schemes to date; and whether he can give the corresponding amounts for the West Indian colonies.
§ Colonel StanleyThe total estimated commitments on schemes approved to date are: £12,129,639 for development and £205,608 for research for all African territories and £8,523,911 for development and £60,750 for research for the West Indian Colonies. The total expenditure for these services are £999,800 and £37,775 respectively for African territories and £1,861,879 and £13,950 respectively for the West Indian Colonies.
