HC Deb 02 February 1945 vol 407 c1750W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Food why, in view of the announcement that caterers will be in a position to provide ice-cream forthwith to the extent to which they have ingredients available, the small caterer is not allowed to use the ingredients he has for the making of ice-cream, nor to receive an allocation of roller skim milk powder accorded to large-scale manufacturers.

Colonel Llewellin

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave on 20th December to the hon. Member for Tamworth (Sir J. Mellor). I regret that, in view of the supply position, I am not able at present to allow caterers, large or small, to use their catering milk supplies for the making of ice cream, nor am I able to make an allocation of roller skim milk powder to caterers not carrying on a regular ice cream business in connection with which allocations of raw materials are already being received from my Department.
