§ Mr. T. Macphersonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware of the proposals now being made to local authorities by the N.F.S. for the use of air raid sirens for fire service purposes; and if he will arrange to have this circular withdrawn, having regard to the fact that, especially in the southern parts of England, the air raid sirens have been sounded frequently during the war period and the residents in these districts have no desire to hear them again, even though any warning to firemen may be in the nature of the raiders passed signal.
