§ Mr. Yatesasked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that in H.Q., 56 Area, C.M.F., a notice, dated 20th November, 1945, has been circulated to the effect that supplies of tobacco were likely to be restricted for a few weeks and that the shortage, whilst not applying to cigarettes, was attributable to strikes in the United Kingdom; and if he will take steps to see that the true facts are circulated to the troops in the area.
§ Mr. BellengerI understand that although tobacco was available in C.M.F. at the time, certain brands were restricted in consequence of the shipping delay which resulted from the dock strike. I am, however, calling for the exact terms of the notice referred to and will consider whether any further action is necessary in that respect.
