§ Captain Marsdenasked the Minister of War Transport what ships have been lent by the Danish Government for use on the cross-Channel trooping service; and under what conditions.
§ Mr. BarnesAs a contribution to the cost of the war, the Danish Government has made His Majesty's Government a 1061W generous offer of the free loan of five vessels for the cross-Channel trooping service up to 2nd March next. The Danish Government has also offered to meet all expenses which have to be defrayed in Danish currency, including the costs of converting the vessels to troopships and subsequently reconverting them, the pay of the crew and the cost of insurance. I am glad of this opportunity to say how much His Majesty's Government appreciates the generous gesture made by the Danish Government and what valuable help this will be to us in the movement of British service personnel between this country and the Continent.
