HC Deb 17 December 1945 vol 417 c1083W
Squadron-Leader Hollis

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Burma whether there is hope in the near future a limited number of wives of civil servants in Burma will be permitted to join their husbands in Burma.

Mr. A. Henderson

The question whether the wives of civil Government servants are to be permitted to proceed to Burma to join their husbands is at present under consideration by the Government of Burma. The entry into Burma of wives and other private individuals must be conditioned by the accommodation and living facilities available which at present are strictly limited.

Vice-Admiral Taylor

asked the Undersecretary of State for Burma whether a decision has yet been come to as to the entry of private individuals into Burma and passages to Rangoon.

Mr. A. Henderson

The question of the entry of private individuals into Burma is under consideration by the Government of Burma, and it is hoped that an announcement in regard to it and to the question of passages to Rangoon will be made shortly.
