HC Deb 17 December 1945 vol 417 c1086W
Captain F. Noel-Baker

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware that pressure in gas mains in Chiswick and other districts of London supplied by the Gas Light and Coke Company is still so low as to cause discomfort to housewives; and whether he will take steps to remedy the position.

Mr. Shinwell

I am aware that gas pressure is inadequate in various parts of London. This is due to lack of labour for maintaining and operating the plant at the gas works. I have been in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour, who is doing everything possible to provide further labour for the gas undertakings.
