§ Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyreasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it is intended under the powers given in Section 70 of the War Damage Act, 1943, to assess mineowners for War Damage Contribution from the outbreak of war until 1st January, 1942, when all mining royalties were acquired by the Government.
§ Mr. DaltonSection 70 of the War Damage Act, 1943, does not confer powers to levy contributions in respect of properties falling within the scope of that Section. Legislation will be required for that purpose and is in preparation, but I cannot anticipate its terms.
