HC Deb 12 December 1945 vol 417 c573W
Mr. T. Reid

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will give an assurance that the Supreme Council of Sarawak, or the Council Negri, State Council, will be consulted before Anglo-Sarawak treaty relations are revised on the constitution of the territory altered so as to bring it under the Foreign Jurisdiction Act.

Mr. George Hall

As indicated in my answer in the House on 5th December, I am in consultation with His Highness the Rajah of Sarawak on the question of the future relations between His Majesty's Government and that State. I have no doubt whatever that the Rajah is fully conscious of his position in relation to the Sarawak State Councils and I understand that he proposes to consult with them.
