HC Deb 12 December 1945 vol 417 cc579-80W
Mr. Renton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take steps to enable the widow's pension payable under the Police Act, 1921, to be paid to the wife of a pensioner who re-marries after his regular service in the police, but during his wartime service in the first' police reserve.

Mr. Ede

To do what the hon. Member suggests would, I am advised, involve an amendment of the Police Pensions Act, 1921, and I can find no sufficient grounds to warrant the introduction of legislation on this particular point in advance of the general review of the provisons of the Act which will be necessitated by the Government's National Insurance proposals.
