§ Dr. S. Taylorasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will consider appointing to his medical staff a psychiatrist to inspect Colonial mental hospitals and advise thereon.
§ Mr. George HallI am unable to agree that such an appointment should be made in present circumstances and I propose to continue the arrangements whereby medical officers on leave from the Colonies are enabled to visit modern mental hospitals in this country and to study their methods. The knowledge thus gained should be of considerable value during the subsequent service of these officers. These arrangements can be supplemented, whenever the Colonial Government so desires, through a visit to the territory by a specialist from this country.
