HC Deb 11 December 1945 vol 417 c370W
Mr. H. Hynd

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is reviewing the regulations laid under the Local Authorities Loans Act, 1945, which impose burdens in connection with borrowing from the Public Works Loan Commissioners; and whether, in accordance with the Government's policy of cheaper money and as a step towards providing new houses at reasonable rents, it is intended to modify both the rates of interest and the minimum period for such loans.

Mr. Glenvil Hall

The rates of interest charged by the Public Works Loan Commissioners correspond to the rates at which the Treasury itself borrows and will be revised as and when these change.
