Mr. AlexanderAccording to the records, the numbers entered in the Royal Navy and enlisted in the Royal Marines during the period 3rd September, I939, to 31st December, 1944, from Northern Ireland and Eire respectively were 5,511 and 431. These figures do not, of course, give an accurate picture of the total number of Irishmen serving in the Navy.
