Member for North Cumberland with regard to closing the road at Anthorn; and whether he proposes to permit local residents to pass through the aerodrome or provide an alternative road.
Mr. AlexanderThe Royal Naval Air Station, Anthorn, is intended to be one of the Navy's reserve airfields in peace-time. It is hoped that by the middle of 1946 it may be possible to allow local traffic to pass through the station, but while flying continues this would be impossible. I am sure the hon. Member will appreciate that owing to the scarcity of labour and materials, it would be impracticable to build a new road in the interim.
