HC Deb 04 December 1945 vol 416 cc2295-6W
Brigadier Peto

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will put an end to the Christian Reform League, which has as its object the veneration of Hitler, in view of the feelings of revulsion which have been aroused throughout this country.

Mr. Ede

I entirely share the feelings of revulsion against this movement which, in the guise of religion, seeks to make a cult of Hitler and of the forces of evil which the United Nations have recently successfully overcome. The activities of the movement will be carefully watched. I have no power to interfere with this movement merely because it is unpopular or ridiculous, while its advocates commit no breach of the law.
