§ Mr. Bensonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been drawn to the coroner's remarks at the inquest upon Arthur 858W Wilkes, held at Stafford Prison; and whether he proposes to investigate the conditions under which this man was held prior to his transfer to Stafford Prison and to inquire why his condition was not discovered earlier.
§ Mr. EdeI am informed that this inquest, which was opened on the 26th July, was adjourned in order to allow the Prison Commissioners to hold an inquiry. Full reports on the case will be submitted to me in due course, but it would not be proper for me to make any comment pending the conclusion of the coroner's inquiry.
