§ Miss WilkinsonI am advised that teachers are eligible for membership of the education committees of local education authorities but that, as the law stands, they are disqualified for membership of any committee to deal with educational matters set up by the council of a borough or urban district which is constituted a842W divisional executive, if, under the scheme of divisional administration, their appointment rests in whole or in part with that council. I am aware that this is at variance with statements made on behalf of the Government during the passage of the Education Act and it is my intention, at a suitable opportunity, to deal with the matter by amending legislation.
