HC Deb 23 August 1945 vol 413 cc850-1W
Mr. Sloan

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether it is proposed to take action against officials and administrators in Bengal and in the Government of India in respect of whose discharge of duties the Report of the Wood-head Famine Commission warrants inquiry or punishment.

Mr. A. Henderson

I have not been able to find in the Famine Inquiry Commission's report any condemnation of, or charges against, individual officials or administrators. I am, however, inquiring of the Government of India on the point raised in the Question.

Mr. Sloan

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India if he will take an early opportunity of bringing before the House the report of the inquiry into the famine conditions in India by Sir John Wood-head's Commission.

Mr. A. Henderson

Copies of the first part of the Report were placed in the Library at the time of publication. The second part has not yet been published.
