HC Deb 23 August 1945 vol 413 c845W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Prime Minister if he will give an assurance that the secrets of the manufacture of the atomic bomb shall not be disclosed to any other Power without first obtaining the consent of this House.

The Prime Minister

Before they reach any decision on this matter the Government will wish to have such advice as the newly appointed Advisory Committee can offer, and they must, of course, move in concert with the Government of the United States. As regards the second part of the Question, I am unable to give a specific undertaking, but I can assure the House that the Government will wish to pay full regard to the views of hon. Members.
