HC Deb 21 August 1945 vol 413 c469W
Mr. Bower

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will allow service in the W.R. Police to be counted for the purpose of eligibility for the special long-service increment of pay, in the cases of those men who are subsequently conscripted into the Armed Forces.

Mr. Lawson

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to War Service Increments. These were specially granted to those with prolonged war service in the Navy, Army and R.A.F., and only such service is reckonable. I do not think that it would be right or practicable to make exceptions in favour of any of the many other forms of war service.
