§ Sir S. CrippsFigures for the city of Cardiff are not readily available, but the following are the figures for the South Wales Region. Between 1st January, 1944, and 31st July, 1945,62 licences under the Location of Retail Businesses Order to open shops were granted to ex-Servicemen and 19 were refused. On 18th August, 1945, 22 applications by ex-Servicemen were outstanding.
