§ Lieut-Commander Hutchisonasked the Minister of Health whether he will abolish the system of National Registration identity cards as soon as possible after the end of the war.
§ Mr. WillinkThe National Registration Act, 1939, expressly provides that it will automatically expire on such date as may be declared by Order in Council as ending the emergency which was the occasion for its passing. The continuance of National Registration beyond that date would accordingly require fresh legislation. I am not at present in a position to express any view as to whether it is more desirable that it should expire or that it should continue.
