§ Mr. Snaddenasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has now considered the Report of the Balfour Committee on Hill Sheep Farming in Scotland; and whether he proposes to introduce legislation to give effect to its recommendations.
Mr. JohnstonI have considered the report carefully, together with observations on it which have been sent to me by the National Farmers' Union and other organisations interested in the industry. Discussions with these bodies are at present in progress and will, I hope, soon be completed. The question of legislation will then be considered.
