§ Mr. MacLarenasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he proposes to cause an inquiry into the present state of local government finance and the probable effect of recent legislation on highly rated areas.
§ Sir J. AndersonA general overhaul of the financial relations between the Exchequer and local authorities will have to be undertaken as soon as the data on which it can be based become available. The Government recognise that this overhaul will have to be carried out with a definite bias in favour of the poorer authorities.
