§ Mr. Hewlettasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in a case of which details have been furnished, he will examine the circumstances of a demand for payment of Estate Duty amounting to £3,380 and incidental Legacy Duty amounting to about £960 in respect of business premises in the City of Manchester, which were destroyed by enemy action less than three months after the death of their owner, on whose representatives the demand has been made; and whether he will give instructions that the payment of the death duties shall stand over subject to adjustment when the value payment is ultimately agreed.
