§ Mr. Leslieasked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the negotiations between the United States Chamber of Commerce and the Russian Government on the subject of mutual trading, Russia requiring machinery, steel, lathes, machine tools, motor-cars and other goods, and supplying such raw materials as chrome, platinum, copper, oil, tungsten, timber, pulp-wood and furs; and if his Department has made similar overtures to Russia for mutual trading.
§ Mr. JohnstoneI have seen Press references to the interest of U.S. manufacturers in trade with Russia. Traders in this country have also had discussions with the Soviet authorities, and as my hon. Friend the Member for Stoke (Mr. Ellis Smith) was informed on 7th November the conversations in Moscow between His Majesty's Embassy and the Soviet Government are still proceeding.
