HC Deb 16 November 1944 vol 404 c2132W
Colonel Ropner

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, since the proceedings of drainage undertakings can now be published, he will state what drainage of agricultural land in the West Riding of Yorkshire has been carried out since the start of the war.

Mr. Hudson

I regret that it would require an undue expenditure of time and labour to obtain the information requested, but appended is a statement showing the number and estimated cost of certain classes of grant-aided land drainage schemes approved for execution in the West Riding during the war:

mum rates of wages of ordinary adult male workers, and increases in the average minimum wage of women of 18 years and over amount to 24s. per week. Proportionate increases have been made in the minimum wages of juveniles and of special classes of workers. No statistics are available of actual increases in wages paid in excess of the minimum rates.
