§ Mr. G. Hutchinsonasked the Minister of Information to what extent temporary civil servants employed in his Ministry are being asked if they would like to become permanent officials in the event of the Ministry being continued after the war; and whether it is intended to give any preference to ex-Service personnel.
§ Mr. BrackenNo inquiry on the basis that the Ministry of Information will be continued after the war has been addressed to any temporary civil servants employed by the Ministry. They have been asked provisionally whether they would like to continue after the war in any Government organisation that may carry on branches of the work that we are now doing or otherwise in the Civil Service. The extent to which a preference will be given to ex-Service personnel in any such post-war organisation must, of course, be governed by the general policy adopted by the Government for such matters.
