HL Deb 24 May 1944 vol 131 cc943-4WA
VISCOUNT ELIBANK

asked, in view of the desirability of immediately replanting where possible small plantations that have been recently cut down, when the grant of £2 per acre for conifers will be raised to £7 10s. an acre or such sum as is commensurate with the present increased cost of planting.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT SIMON)

The question of planting grants is bound up with forest policy which is at present under consideration by the Government. I regret therefore that I am unable to make an announcement.

House adjourned.
