HC Deb 23 May 1944 vol 400 c586W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has considered the evidence given at the inquest on the bodies of three Welsh boys who were discovered on a desolate North Wales mountain; and can he make a statement.

Mr. Peake

I have seen newspaper reports of the tragic circumstances in which these three boys met their deaths, and I am sure that this House will join with me in extending sympathy with the boys' father in his bereavement. I am informed that the coroner found that there was no criminal negligence and that the deaths were accidental. I understand that my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Education has on several occasions in the last two years requested schools to warn all school children periodically of the danger of interfering with strange objects and warning posters have also been widely displayed at schools and police stations.
